Brockhouse Cooper's investment manager search process has been developed over more than
thirty years in the investment business. It reflects the accumulated experience of our
consulting division working with a wide variety of plan sponsors in three continents
starting in the late 1960s. It is characterized by impartiality,
complete transparency, thoroughness
and detailed and accurate assessments of the leading investment management firms of the world.
Database
Our consulting team in Montreal maintains a free (investment managers do not pay to be
included) proprietary database consisting of:
- 800 managers
- 37 investment mandates
- 3195 products
- 15 measures of performance - return, risk and risk-adjusted return
Methodology
Our methodology emphasizes what underlies the performance and risk of investment
firms - their character, culture, ownership, leadership, continuity, philosophy,
process, and personnel - in addition to raw performance data.
We believe that, where possible, performance should be
evaluated over at least two business cycles.
Process
Our process, in any one of 37 mandates, can take clients through as many as three
filtering stages before a finalist list is established. Throughout the process
the client (the plan sponsor) and the Brockhouse Cooper consulting team are interacting
to define and refine the client's concerns and criteria:
- Client-Driven
- Educational
- Accessible
- Transparent
- Flexible
- Complete
