J. Edward Brockhouse
Ted Brockhouse is, with Richard Cooper, a co-founder of the Company. Ted served as Chairman of the company for many years and is currently a Director. Born in the United Kingdom, Ted served in the Royal Marine Commandos and as a commissioned officer in the Parachute Regiment before emigrating to Canada in 1959, where he attended McGill University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce. In 1964 he began his investment career at Wood Gundy Ltd. and in 1970 he left Wood Gundy to help found Brockhouse & Cooper Inc. Ted is a member of the Advisory Board of Engineers Without Borders Canada, whose mission is to bring low cost, low tech solutions to the problems which beset disadvantaged countries mainly in Africa. He is also Chairman of The Learning Associates of Montreal, a nonprofit organization that assists children with learning disabilities enabling them to achieve academic success.
Richard L. Cooper
Chairman, Secretary & Treasurer
Richard Cooper is a co-founder and Director of the Company. Since 1971 he
has directed the
firm's international trading function. Richard began his investment career
at Wood Gundy & Co. in 1956. He became a partner and continued with the
firm until 1968. In 1969 Richard accepted a position as Vice President,
St. Lawrence Diversified Financial Services, and President of Champion
Savings Co. and Mutual Fund Group. From 1970, until he joined Brockhouse &
Cooper in 1971, he was a Branch Manager for Wisener & Partners. Richard is
a graduate of Malvern College in England, 1953.
Ralph E.W. Loader
Chief Executive Officer
Previously President of Pension Finance Associates and Vice President and
Manager for Wood Gundy's Comparative Measurement Service, Ralph joined
Brockhouse & Cooper Inc. in 1987. From 1987 through 2005 Mr. Loader
built and managed Brockhouse & Cooper's Investment Consulting Division
and in 2001 he was appointed CEO of the firm. From 2005, together with Ovidiu Schiopu,
Ralph structured the firm's entry into the asset management business,
establishing and officially launching Brockhouse Cooper Asset Management Inc. in
April of 2007. Ralph holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from
Concordia University (1974) and he graduated with distinction from
Sir George Williams University's Bachelor of Commerce program in 1971.
He brings more than 30 years of investment consulting experience to the
institutional investment communities of Canada, the United States and South Africa.
Patrick L. Belland
Vice-President, Capital Markets Division
Patrick graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours in Economics) from
McGill University in
1991 and joined Brockhouse & Cooper's trading desk in 1992. He has worked
in settlements, equity and fixed-income trading and international equity
sales. In 1997 he was appointed Manager of Institutional Sales and has
been a Director since 2001. In 2005, he was appointed Head of Brokerage
Sales. He was awarded the CFA designation in 1995.
Pierre E. Collins
Senior Consultant
Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), University of New
Brunswick. Pierre joined Brockhouse Cooper in 2002 as a consultant. For
the previous 9 years, he worked at the WHSCC of New Brunswick and spent
seven years working as an accountant. Pierre is a Chartered Accountant and
was awarded the CFA designation in 2003. In 2005, he became a Director of
the firm.
Eric Fontaine
Vice-President, Consulting
Eric graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics - actuarial
studies) from Université de Montréal and joined Brockhouse Cooper in 2002
as a consultant. He spent the previous 14 years working as a consultant
and actuary for Mercers and Morneau Sobeco He is a Fellow of the Canadian
Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries. In 2005, he was
appointed Vice-President, Consulting and became an Officer of the firm and
was appointed President of Brockhouse & Cooper International, Inc..
Howard Messias
President, Chief Financial & Compliance Officer
Howard graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce, University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa),
and a Bachelor of Accountancy, University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa). He is a
Chartered Accountant (Canada and South Africa), and a registered Principal with the
Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. (FINRA) and the Investment Dealers
Association of Canada (IDA). After spending the previous 10 years with Imasco Limited in
various financial roles, Howard joined Brockhouse Cooper in 2000 as Chief Financial Officer
responsible for financial and regulatory aspects of the business. From 2002 until 2005
Howard assumed responsibility for the management of the Consulting Division and in 2007
he was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the firm.
Jamieson S. Ritchie
Head of Global Equity Trading
Jamie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Major in Economics) from McGill
University in 1993 and joined Brockhouse Cooper’s trading desk in
1995. He has worked in settlements, international and domestic equity
trading, and equity sales. In 1997 he was appointed Head of North American
Equity Trading and in 2005 became Head of Global Equity Trading. He was
awarded the CFA designation in 1998. In 2005, he became a Director of the
firm.
