J. Edward Brockhouse

Former Chairman and co-founder

J. Edward Brockhouse (Ted) was born in the United Kingdom, served in the Royal Marine Commandoes and as a commissioned officer in the Parachute Regiment before emigrating to Canada in 1959. There, he attended McGill University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce. In 1964, he began his investment career at Wood Gundy Ltd and left in 1970 to found Brockhouse & Cooper. He directed the firm’s medium- and long-term strategic planning efforts and coordinated the consulting and securities trading operations of the business. Ted travelled extensively to Europe, Asia, north and South America to maintain and develop the company’s relationships with financial intermediaries and investment managers. Ted retired from the firm in 2008.

Richard L. Cooper

Former President and co-founder

Richard L. Cooper graduated from Malvern College in England. He began his investment career at Wood Gundy & Co. in 1956, where he eventually became a partner. In 1969, Richard accepted a position as Vice President, St. Lawrence Diversified Financial Services, and President of Champion Savings Co. and Mutual Fund Group. With Brockhouse& Cooper, Richard directed the firm’s international equity trading function and managed the company’s financial affairs. Richard retired from the firm in 2008.

Ralph E.W. Loader

Former, Chairman, Vice President and co-founder

Ralph E.W. Loader is an honours graduate (Bachelor of Commerce) of Sir George Williams University with a master's degree in Business Administration from Concordia University (1974) Ralph joined Brockhouse & Cooper Inc. in 1987 to build and manage its investment consulting division. He was also instrumental in structuring the firm's entry into the asset management business, establishing and officially launching Brockhouse Cooper Asset Management Inc. in April of 2007. Ralph retired from the firm in 2009.
